Collateral Damage

He’s been trying to understand what is wrong with his brain
He thinks of going outside and it’s always the same
He stares out the window and sees life in its frame…
There’s nothing to salvage it’s collateral damage.

He’s house-bound he’s captured he stares at the walls
The isolation strangles and nobody calls
At least he’s standing when all else falls
You can’t get advantage on collateral damage.

He needs to believe in escape
He needs to know there can be a break
Too many things in life cause carnage…
Collateral damage.

He’s inside a world he knows way far too well
The people that know him his neighbours can tell
He’s locked in his prison that might just be hell…
A life-time to manage his collateral damage.
