Standing outside a pub I’ve not been in for quite a while
I light my cigarette up and the memories flow
A lot of the punters have long past away nothing new
For all the chats and giggles not a one said go.

He got the news this morning he’s a tumor and it’s gonna kill him
He told me with that stoic face we both had another drink
He’s old I’m old we’ve been to so many funerals
We’d always leave for home with a touch and a wink.

We talk but not all the time he’s a wanderer of the bar
He used to have that laugh that snigger till he lost his wife
It’s a worky pub and they’ve all known each other since kids
It gives they feelings with a drink maybe hard but a wonderful life.
